At least ten cars were involved in a pile-up on I-90 near Vantage, WA about 120 miles east of Seattle on Thursday. King5.com reports that smoke from a brush fire near the Ryegrass rest stop reduced visibility on the road, and caused a major multiple vehicle accident which has resulted in at least one fatality. The driver of a semi-truck was killed when his vehicle collided with another truck. The name of the driver, a 60 year old University Place man, has not been released. The State Patrol closed the 22 miles of the highway until conditions improved.

Each year, there are over 200 hundred speeding-related fatalities in Washington. We all know how dangerous speeding can be, but we sometimes forget what actually comprises speeding. Drunk Driver Smashes Into Building| Kirkland Auto Crash Lawyer

Fortunately, no other people were injured in the incident, but this accident shows how dangerous drunk driving is. Pedestrian Hit by a Car- Sustains Life Threatening Injuries| Issaquah Car Accident Lawyer

The dangers of being a pedestrian are often overlooked when discussing auto accidents. A team of middle school students recently displayed more initiative and productive behavior than is typically witnessed in adults. This group on teenagers from Philadelphia, however, decided to take it upon themselves to increase safety on the roads.

The Christopher Columbus Fellowship Foundation sponsors a yearly competition for middle schoolers across the nation to create a scientific solution to a societal problem. This year; Alyssa Sullivan, Isabella DeLuca, Sara Rowlands, and Elizabeth Sauers will compete for the $25,000 prize with their invention the TEXTerminator.

	The team realized after a survey they conducted around their home town that among 16-18 year olds 57% have text messaged while driving and 23% claim their parents also are guilty of texting behind the wheel. The team got to work and 7 months later produced the TEXTerminator. After developing the idea the teens acquired the assistance of a group f Subaru engineers the helped create the electronic signaling to block cell phone text messaging applications.

	It never ceases to amaze me what a group of young adults can accomplish. Distracted driving accounts for 80% of auto accidents and texting behind the wheel alone accounts for 27%. Kitsap Crash Injures Two| Kitsap Personal Injury Attorney

It doesn’t take much to cause a terrible Washington car accident. As a Bellevue personal injury lawyer, I have seen many Seattle car crashes sparked by only a moment of bad judgment.
Recently in South Kitsap, two drivers were hospitalized after a head-on collision. The crash took place around 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Sedgwick Road and Banner Road.  
According to the State Patrol, an 18-year-old driver in a 1988 Toyota Camry tried to pass a semi-truck on Sedgwick Road. Unfortunately, another driver in a 1995 Ford Taurus turned onto Sedgwick at that moment and hit the Toyota Camry.
Both drivers were seriously injured and were rushed to Harrison Medical Center for treatment. The 44-year-old driver of the Taurus suffered arm and rib injuries. And, the 18-year-old driver had several facial lacerations. 
Both lanes of Sedgwick Road were temporarily closed as officials investigated the scene. They were reopened around 7:15 p.m.

Wisconsin Man Warns Drivers about Texting Dangers | Seattle Auto Crash Attorneys

We’ve heard it before: don’t text and drive. Despite all the warnings, drivers continue to use cell phones while driving. In my career as a Seattle car accident lawyer and Washington wrongful death attorney, I have seen many Seattle car accidents caused by distracted drivers. 
A few weeks ago, Aaron Brookens, 20, was in a life altering car accident. Brookens was texting his girlfriend when he crashed his pickup into a semi truck. 
He suffered multiple injuries in the impact including broken femurs, a broken kneecap, broken left ankle, nerve damage to his lower legs and several cuts. As a result, he has limited feeling in his lower legs and it is likely these injuries will affect him for the rest of his life.
