It seems that no matter how many people get injured or even die, some people still think that it’s ok to drive around without their seat belt on. As a Seattle auto accident attorney, what really gets me is that the people that don’t wear seat belts seem to be the worst drivers.

As important as wearing your seat belt is, it is equally important to pay attention to what is going on around you. Yesterday morning, a Lynwood auto accident left three people injured when a car tried to make a left hand turn in front of a community transit bus. The driver, 22-year-old Yollymar Delgado, thought he could quickly make the turn before the bus entered the intersection but he misjudged the buses speed and was struck. Both Delgado and his passenger had failed to buckle up and were ejected from the car on impact. Delgado’s car was hit so hard that it spun into another lane hitting a car being driven by a 17-year-old boy, who was then struck by another car. Delgado and his passenger were transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries and the 17-year-old is being treated at a local hospital for neck pain. In total 4 vehicles were damaged and 3 people were injured in the auto accident, all because one person wasn’t paying attention.

With all the personal injury and fatal auto accidents I have handled at my Bellevue car accident law firm I know just how big of a difference putting your seat belt on can make. Every year seat belts save over 13,000 lives in the U.S. alone, I don’t get how people still make the decision not to buckle up.
