Pedestrian Accident Kills Woman| Seattle Pedestrian Injury Lawyer
As a Seattle pedestrian accident lawyer, I help the victims and families of severe pedestrian collisions regain control after an accident and start the healing process. As a Washington wrongful death attorney, I also help the families dealing with the loss of a loved one in a fatal pedestrian accident. Pedestrian accidents are a harsh reality of living in a society that relies so heavily on cars, but that doesn’t make their devastating consequences any easier to deal with.
Early Sunday morning, a woman stepped out onto Highway 99 in Edmonds and was hit by a vehicle travelling at full speed. The driver of the vehicle quickly called 911 and highway patrol shortly arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, the 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead on the scene. There is not yet an answer as to why the woman was in the street.
Often times pedestrian accidents, such as this, result in severe head trauma, or injuries to the body, arms, and legs. And sadly, these accidents often lead to a pedestrian fatality. Washington State pedestrian law states that a pedestrian cannot leave the curb or side of the road in the midst of traffic. Entering any street outside the bounds of a crosswalk means that the pedestrian must yield to traffic on the road. Even when a pedestrian does have the right of way they must be cautious as a car moving at high speeds may not be able to stop in time.
Losing a loved family member or friend is an incredibly painful experience. Whether it be in a car accident or not, the last thing that you and your family want to have to deal with or worry about is legal issues and complications. In an attempt to provide you with much deserved help and assistance, I have co-authored a book with attorney Patrick J. Kang which is a guide for families of Washington wrongful death victims. The book is called, In Case of Death: Straight Talk on Washington Wrongful Death, and is available at no charge to Washington residents by clicking on the preceding link.
