As a Bellevue car accident attorney and Seattle wrongful death lawyer, I have seen many destructive Washington auto accidents during my career. This weekend was no exception.

In Puyallup, a teenage driver crashed into a home early Sunday morning. Inside the house, a grandmother and her grandson were fast asleep when the vehicle drove through their front living room and caught fire.

The 19-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle on Fruitland Avenue. She hit an embankment and then an electric transformer before crashing into the home.

The vehicle was completely destroyed in the collision. However, the driver suffered only minor injuries.

Luckily, a neighbor heard the crash and rushed over to help. Despite all the noise, the occupants of the house slept through the entire accident.

Investigators believe alcohol is responsible for the incident. They are still awaiting the results of a toxicology test to determine the exact cause of the crash.

No one else was injured in the collision. However, there was considerable property damage.

We are very sorry that the Heggstad family experienced such a startling awakening Sunday. We will keep them in our thoughts during this difficult time.
