Last week, Straight Talk Law wrote about a young 10 year old Washington girl who was hit by a car while riding her bike. Now the girl’s family is speaking out to protect and hope to prevent others from being involved in similar Seattle, Washington car accidents.

10 year old Emily Norman was riding her older brother’s bike, unfortunately without a helmet, when the bike accident occurred. Emily rode the bike out from behind two parked vehicles and out into the path of an oncoming car. To make the situation even more difficult, it turned out that the driver of the vehicle who hit Emily was Chris McCormick, who just happens to be a close family friend.

Chris says she was driving alertly and about 20 mph before the accident. She said it was simply a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time as she just did not have time to react.

Emily is currently in intensive care at Harborview Medical Center, where she is recovering from a serious head injury. We hold the family in our thoughts and prayers and hope Emily is out of the hospital very soon.
