Bellevue Man Lands on I-5 After Crashing Through Barrier
As a Bellevue personal injury attorney I know that at some point most of us have at least though about driving home from a party or a game where we had too much to drink. Or we have thought about getting in the car with someone that we know shouldn’t be driving. The right thing to do in this scenario is call a cab, stay the night if you can, or have a friend that hasn’t been drinking drive you home. Unfortunately not everyone makes the right decision, my Kent auto accident law firm handles the cases of those suffering from the consequences of someone else’s bad decision.
Seattle Police Could Smell Alcohol On Driver’s Breath
Early Tuesday morning, a 23-year-old Bellevue driver decided to take that risk and while driving home on NE 80th street in North Seattle crashed through a barrier and slid down the embankment landing on I-5, ten feet below. The driver of the Volvo, seemingly unhurt, complained of neck pain and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. Police on the scene could smell alcohol on his breath and later arrested him at the hospital for suspicion of DUI.
Firefighters and police closed three lanes of southbound I-5 for over an hour while the cleaned up the accident and rescued the driver from his totaled vehicle. Regardless of circumstances, the driver could have completely avoided this auto accident if he hadn’t been drinking prior to getting into his car. Making the choice to drink and drive puts every other person on the road with you at risk of being involved in a serious and potentially fatal auto accident.
