Motorcycle & Rider Flip Over I-5 Rail | Seattle Car Accident Lawyer
Riding a motorcycle can be fun and exciting when you know what you are doing and you are a safe rider. But when you are out trying to show off or you are driving fast simply because you can, riding a motorcycle can be extremely dangerous and in some cases cost you your life. As a Bellevue personal injury attorney I have helped many motorcyclists get their life back to normal after they were hit and seriously injured by a negligent driver. Many drivers don’t pay attention to motorcycles on the road and turn in front of them or cut them off putting the riding in serious danger. But far too often we hear stories about motorcyclists that couldn’t negotiate a turn or lost control because they were doing 100+ in a 35mph zone.
A 37-year-old man lost his life last night when he flew over a railing on I-5 landing 50 feet below on South Michigan Street. The man, whose name has not been released, was out riding with a friend when Washington State Patrol troopers believe he took a corner too fast and lost control. Troopers believe that when he lost control the bike struck a barrier causing the bike and rider the flip over the railing. The friend, who was riding just a few feet behind tried to lay down his bike and help but in the process injured himself and had to be transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Riding a motorcycle, just like driving a car requires a lot of skill and concentration, without which you could cause an accident potentially killing yourself and others. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the man that was killed but I can only hope that other riders see this as a warning against unsafe riding practices.
